WFD Celebrates 75 Years of Rights, Accessibility and Participation

At the Chamber of Deputies, Minister for Disabilities Alessandra Locatelli attended the opening ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of the World Federation of the Deaf, the international federation of deaf people founded in Rome in 1951.

The event provided an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of rights, accessibility, sign language and the full participation of deaf people.

"We must continue to promote abilities, autonomy and participation," Locatelli said, thanking ENS President Angelo Raffaele Cagnazzo, WFD President Joseph J. Murray, the Italian National Agency for the Deaf and everyone who works on these issues every day.
